Susan Balk



Susan Balk has written for Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and Vogue, and is the author of “Fame.” “Vienna’s Conscience: Close-ups and Conversations after Hitler,” was published in 2007, followed by an international exhibit on permanent display at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. Susan was literary editor of Playboy. She consulted for TimeWarner, NewsCorp, Disney, Daishinsha (Tokyo) and Groupe L’Express (Paris). She taught at The Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.


Kenneth Balk

Co-Chair, Treasurer


Ken Balk founded Kenneth Balk & Associates (KBA), a structural engineering firm and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer for 41 years. In 1999, he founded K.Balk Advisors, LLC to guide clients in developing strategic plans and to establish and monitor processes for the successful and timely delivery of major capital projects. In addition, K.BALK Advisors provides mediation services, executive coaching services, expert testimony and help for troubled projects requiring turn-around expertise.


Tabari Asim Coleman

Board Member


Tabari Coleman has been with the Anti Defamation League since 2002 as a contracted training facilitator. In 2008 he became the Project Director for the A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ® Institute for Missouri and Southern Illinois.  He is responsible for Echoes and Reflections, the No Place for Hate campaign and the Concepts of Beauty and Bias, a multi-year collaboration with the St. Louis Art Museum.


Tom Goldberg

Board Member


Tom Goldberg is owner and wealth manager at Plancorp, LLC. Goldberg’s expertise is in mergers and acquisitions, where he assists business owners in buying and selling small to mid-size companies. He currently serves on the Olin School of Business Alumni Board, Washington University; is Board Director at the Churchill Center and School; and the Board Chair, Thomas Jefferson School.

Lynnsie Balk Kantor is an award-winning residential real estate agent as well as a busy volunteer at numerous organizations in the St. Louis Jewish community and beyond, for which she received the Berkshire Hathaway Alliance Distinguished Community Service Award. She has a special love for the arts and has a master’s degree in dance education from New York University. She is a proud mother of 3, all of whom are working to change the world for the better.

Bryce Krug serves as the Fundraising Professional at Washington University in Saint Louis. Bryce has previously worked at the Eden Theological Seminary, Webster University, and the United States Information Agency.

Lisa D. McLaughlin is an acclaimed lawyer in the fields of estate planning and non-profit law. Ms. McLaughlin is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. In the past, she served as Chair of the BAMSL Probate & Trust Committee and Chair of the BAMSL Nonprofit Organizations Committee. She’s been listed in Missouri Kansas Super Lawyers listing both as a top lawyer and in the top “50 Women Lawyers” since 2005 and was listed in Best Lawyers in America (1995-2016).

Rashmi Nair has held numerous positions within the Global Regulatory organization of Monsanto Company including Lead for Regulatory Policy in Emerging Markets, Lead of the India Region Regulatory Organization and Global Strategy and Operations Lead. Now she is the owner of The Nair Continuum LLC, a private consulting firm.



Kimberly Norwood

Board Member


Kimberly Norwood, Professor of Law at Washington University, received its Distinguished Faculty Award in 2015. She created and teaches a course titled: Implicit Bias in the Law and in the Legal Profession. One of her seminars, Race, Class & Education, involves a combination of judges, lawyers, law students, and high school students working together under a high school to law school pipeline program model. Her books include: Color Matters: Skin Tone Bias & the Myth of a Post-Racial America, and Ferguson’s Fault Lines: The Race Quake that Rocked a Nation.


Moisy Shopper

Board Member


Moisy Shopper is a Faculty Member at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. He is also a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Child Psychiatry at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. In addition he is a private practitioner. Shopper specializes in psychiatry. He has extensive knowledge in child/ adolescent, legal, and forensic issues. He has done extensive work in conflict resolution. He earned a his medical degree from Suny-Health Sciences Center
At Brooklyn.


Board Member


Susan was one of the founders of the Confluence Schools and  helped design the growth of the academies. Susan serves on the Board of Directors which guides the direction of the schools, grades K-12.

Hannah Verity serves as the Director of Global Program Development and was chosen for 2016-17 Community Leadership St. Louis Program. Hannah has served as the Director of Global Programs for Webster University’s College of Arts & Sciences as well as the Director of the Unique Global Master of Arts programs.

Arlen has applied her expertise in development, marketing and public relations to campaigns for industry and non-profits including: National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI St. Louis) where she recently served as its President, Jewish Family and Children’s Service, The French Heritage Society, Logos High School, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The MUNY, and the Westport Playhouse.

Destiny is a graduate of The Art Institute of St. Louis, with her Bachelor’s in Digital Cinematography. She has worked on projects with St. Louis Jewish Light,  Missouri Children’s Burn Camp, and her own independent documentaries covering social issues.
